DPW Offers Workshop to Faith-Based Organizations on the Baltimore Energy Initiative Loan Program

BALTIMORE, Md. - Baltimore City Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., invites representatives of faith-based organizations to attend a workshop on the Baltimore Energy Initiative (BEI) Loan Program. The program is being run in conjunction with DPW’s Office of Sustainable Energy.

 

The program provides low-interest loans to congregations, non-profits, and small businesses in Baltimore City. The loans help organizations reduce their carbon footprint, save on energy bills, and re-direct those funds to their mission work.

 

The workshop will be held from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Govans Presbyterian Church, 5828 York Road. In the event of snow, the workshop will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the same time and location.

 

BEI loans are made possible through an award from the Maryland Public Service Commission’s Customer Investment Fund for energy efficiency. The DPW Office of Sustainable Energy has partnered with two local non-profit organizations to provide the loans: The Reinvestment Fund and Healthy Neighborhoods Inc. In addition, BEI helps building owners understand, finance, and implement a range of energy measures to reduce energy waste in their buildings.

 

This workshop is presented in partnership with Interfaith Power & Light, an organization which works with congregations of all faiths across Maryland, D.C., and Northern Virginia to support them in saving energy, going green, and responding to climate change.

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)  has announced the release of its Revised Emergency Response Plan (ERP), a reference tool to be used by City personnel during a sanitary sewer overflow or reported building backup emergency. The Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree (MCD) requires DPW to submit a revised Emergency Response Plan to protect the public health and welfare in the event of an unpermitted release, spill, or discharge of pollutants from the sewer collection system or in the event of a reported building backup.

Register Now for the Mayor's Fall Cleanup, October 26

Mayor Brandon M. Scott, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs have announced the upcoming Mayor's Annual Fall Clean-up and Day of Service. Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to participate in the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling Now Available at Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center



Looking to get rid of an old mattress? Baltimore City residents can now drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center. In the coming months, DPW will expand this mattress recycling service to other Residential Drop-Off Centers across the city.
