DPW Seeks Public Comment on Draft Regulations Implementing the New “Water for All” Discount Program

 The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is seeking public comment on draft regulations to facilitate the implementation of the new Water for All Discount Program, serving eligible Baltimore City households with incomes below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

“Implementing the Water Accountability and Equity Act is a critical first step in providing Baltimore residents access to a quality water system that works,” said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. “I encourage Baltimoreans to read the proposed regulations from the Department of Public Works and share input as we build a transparent, accountable, and affordable water system.”

The Water for All Discount Program draft regulations would apply to Baltimore City residents who receive bills from the City for water and wastewater charges.

Under the draft regulations for the Water for All Discount Program, water customers who are enrolled in DPW’s current discount programs, BH2O Assists or BH2O Assists Plus, on or before June 30, 2021, may continue in the program for one year.  However, customers must apply for the Water for All Discount Program during the next re-enrollment period no later than June 30, 2022.

“The Department of Public Works is proud to release the draft regulations of the new Water for All Discount Program for public comment,” said Acting Director Jason W. Mitchell. “Part of our mission calls on DPW to provide residents with safe drinking water and we are pleased to work with the public on building a more equitable and affordable water system.”

The public has until Sunday, July 11, 2021, to review and comment on the draft regulations. Acting Director Jason W. Mitchell will consider public input before finalizing the proposed regulations.

Scott, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs have announced the upcoming Mayor's Annual Fall Clean-up and Day of Service. Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to participate in the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling Now Available at Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center



Looking to get rid of an old mattress? Baltimore City residents can now drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center. In the coming months, DPW will expand this mattress recycling service to other Residential Drop-Off Centers across the city.
