Drop Off Household Hazardous Waste Items This Friday, Saturday Save the Date: June 19 Shredding Event

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Household Hazardous Waste Collection season is in full swing. The next Household Hazardous Waste Collection for 2021 will be Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5 from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

DPW's Household Hazardous Waste Collection takes place at the Northwest Citizens' Convenience Center, 2840 Sisson Street. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection season runs from April to October and generally occurs on the first Friday and Saturday of the month.

This is an opportunity for Baltimore City residents to dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) materials such as oil-based paints, pesticides, herbicides, car and household batteries, drain cleaners, pool chemicals, and many other items. Latex paint is NOT hazardous waste, it can be dried up and the cans put out for regular trash collection.

FREE Shredding Event

DPW will offer free paper shredding for Baltimore City residents on Saturday, June 19, 2021. The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 2801 St. Lo Drive (former Lake Clifton High School), Baltimore, Md. 21213.

This is an opportunity for Baltimore City residents to safely dispose of sensitive paper documents quickly, easily, and securely. Canceled checks, medical records, credit card information, utility bills, old tax returns, and pay stubs are among the many items that can be destroyed by shredding. Documents are shredded onsite. Residents can bring up to two 32-gallon bags of documents to be shredded. Bags with other materials/trash will not be accepted.

DPW is Now Accepting Public Comments on the Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree Revised Emergency Response Plan 

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)  has announced the release of its Revised Emergency Response Plan (ERP), a reference tool to be used by City personnel during a sanitary sewer overflow or reported building backup emergency. The Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree (MCD) requires DPW to submit a revised Emergency Response Plan to protect the public health and welfare in the event of an unpermitted release, spill, or discharge of pollutants from the sewer collection system or in the event of a reported building backup.

Register Now for the Mayor's Fall Cleanup, October 26

Mayor Brandon M. Scott, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs have announced the upcoming Mayor's Annual Fall Clean-up and Day of Service. Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to participate in the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling Now Available at Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center



Looking to get rid of an old mattress? Baltimore City residents can now drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center. In the coming months, DPW will expand this mattress recycling service to other Residential Drop-Off Centers across the city.
