Join Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Dam Jam!, a free, fun-filled festival to celebrate the City’s drinking water and its reservoirs.

The Dam Jam celebration takes place Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at beautiful Lake Montebello. This year’s event is located on the southside of Lake Montebello, which can be accessed by using the Harford Road entrance. Starting at 11 a.m., shuttles will be leaving hourly from the event site to take festival attendees to tour the Montebello Water Filtration Plant.

Mayor Young will visit the event to greet visitors to DPW’ Dam Jam and to the regularly-scheduled Market at Montebello. The Mayor is scheduled to arrive at 2:30 p.m.

At Dam Jam, there’s fun for the whole family: a Kids’ Corner, featuring face painting; the Market at Montebello; live entertainment; and tours of the Montebello Water Filtration Plant. Festival goers have an opportunity to learn about and receive resources related to Water Affordability, Healthy Living and Eating, Job Opportunities, City Cleanups and much more.

Top-notch musical entertainment, Trinidad & Tobago Baltimore Steel Orchestra (performing in the morning), the Panama Band (performing in the afternoon) and 92Q and Magic 95.9 radio, will be Jamming at the Dam! Don’t miss the talented, multi-dimensional Dimitri Reeves, who will deliver pop-up performances.

Food vendors will be onsite. The food truck line-up includes Fat Daddy’s; Harbor Que BBQ, Foodgitive Food Truck, and Flash Crab Cake. Other healthy foods will be sold at the Market at Montebello,

Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to experience the entire day's events.

Parking is available around the lake — DPW Environmental Police Officers  and Traffic Enforcement Officers from the Baltimore City Department of Transportation will guide you.

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)  has announced the release of its Revised Emergency Response Plan (ERP), a reference tool to be used by City personnel during a sanitary sewer overflow or reported building backup emergency. The Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree (MCD) requires DPW to submit a revised Emergency Response Plan to protect the public health and welfare in the event of an unpermitted release, spill, or discharge of pollutants from the sewer collection system or in the event of a reported building backup.

Register Now for the Mayor's Fall Cleanup, October 26

Mayor Brandon M. Scott, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs have announced the upcoming Mayor's Annual Fall Clean-up and Day of Service. Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to participate in the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling Now Available at Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center



Looking to get rid of an old mattress? Baltimore City residents can now drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center. In the coming months, DPW will expand this mattress recycling service to other Residential Drop-Off Centers across the city.
