Come out to celebrate the Baltimore region’s drinking water system at Dam Jam 2019! Take a tour of the historic Montebello Water Filtration Plant for an up-close look at how we get your drinking water ready for your tap. 

The Dam Jam celebration will be Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at beautiful Lake Montebello. This year’s event will take place on the southside of Lake Montebello, which can be accessed by using the Harford Road entrance. Starting at 11 a.m., shuttles will be leaving hourly from the event site to take festival attendees to tour the water filtration plant.

In addition to the organized tours of the water filtration plant, Dam Jam features visual and craft artisans, live music, historical displays, face painting, food trucks, and wild life. At this year’s Dam Jam, vendors from the “Market at Montebello” will be joining the festivities.  The Market at Montebello is a “monthly lakeside market to gather and unite around Baltimore’s finest makers and creatives in food, drink, craft, yoga, & healing services.”

Top-notch musical entertainment will be provided by the Trinidad & Tobago Baltimore Steel Orchestra (performing in the morning), the Panama Band (performing in the afternoon) and 92Q radio will provide tunes throughout the day.  The talented, multi-dimensional Dimitri Reeves will deliver pop-up performances. Locally, he is known for his Michael Jackson impersonations. 

Admission is FREE, and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to experience the entire day's events.

Food vendors will also be on-site.  Parking is available around the lake — our Environmental Police Officers will guide you. For more information about Dam Jam 2019, please call 410-545-6541.

DPW is Now Accepting Public Comments on the Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree Revised Emergency Response Plan 

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW)  has announced the release of its Revised Emergency Response Plan (ERP), a reference tool to be used by City personnel during a sanitary sewer overflow or reported building backup emergency. The Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree (MCD) requires DPW to submit a revised Emergency Response Plan to protect the public health and welfare in the event of an unpermitted release, spill, or discharge of pollutants from the sewer collection system or in the event of a reported building backup.

Register Now for the Mayor's Fall Cleanup, October 26

Mayor Brandon M. Scott, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs have announced the upcoming Mayor's Annual Fall Clean-up and Day of Service. Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to participate in the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling Now Available at Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center



Looking to get rid of an old mattress? Baltimore City residents can now drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center. In the coming months, DPW will expand this mattress recycling service to other Residential Drop-Off Centers across the city.
