DPW Temporarily Extends Hours at Citizen Convenience Centers

BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore City Department of Public Works Director Rudy S. Chow, P.E., today announced that hours of operation will be extended throughSaturday, Feb. 6 at four (4) of the DPW Citizen Convenience Centers.  This is being done to better accommodate residents who want additional time to drop off recyclables, or trash, on their own. 
 
As a reminder, DPW crews will NOT pick up recycling the rest of this week or next in order to concentrate resources on trash collection following the record snowstorm. Residents may hold their recycling – or drop it off at one of the Citizen Convenience Centers – while trash crews continue to focus on removing the trash.
 
The extended hours are as follows beginning today through Saturday, Feb. 6:
 
6101 Bowleys Lane - 8 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
701 Reedbird Avenue - 8 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
2840 Sisson Street - 8 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Quarantine Road Landfill - 8 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
 
The Northwest Transfer Station, 5030 Reisterstown Road, will maintain its normal drop off hours which are 7 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
 
City workers and contractors continue efforts to clear roads following this weekend’s historic snowfall. Where residential streets and alleys are impassable, trucks cannot run their routes and drivers have been called to duty plowing and clearing the roads. 
 
Residents are reminded to keep trash in bags and secured inside durable trash cans with tight-fitting lids. 
 
Residents are asked to continue to work to locate and clear the storm drains in their streets and alleys. As temperatures rise above freezing and the snow melts during daylight hours, the stormwater system can only drain water away only if the inlets are kept open. Please also make sure hydrants are clear of snow and accessible.

Scott, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs have announced the upcoming Mayor's Annual Fall Clean-up and Day of Service. Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to participate in the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling Now Available at Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center



Looking to get rid of an old mattress? Baltimore City residents can now drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center. In the coming months, DPW will expand this mattress recycling service to other Residential Drop-Off Centers across the city.
