New Spooks Hill Road Bridge Road closure starts Monday, June 15

BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) Director Rudolph S. Chow, P.E., today announced that road closures will go into effect on Spooks Hill Road on or about Monday, June 15. This is to allow replacement of the Spooks Hill Road Bridge over Cooper’s Run. The project is being done by the City’s Department of Transportation; the bridge is located on City-owned watershed property, surrounding the Prettyboy Reservoir.

Bridge work will include new footers, abutments, bridge deck, and parapet walls. Work to the bridge approach will include new guardrails, roadway paving and landscape work.

 

Spooks Hill Road north of Kidds Schoolhouse Road and south of Bulls Sawmill Road will be closed beginning on or about June 15.

 

Detour from the South:

Left on Kidds Schoolhouse Road

Right on Beckleysville Road

Right on Spooks Hill Road

 

Detour from the North:

Left (or stay south) on Beckleysville Road

Left on Kidds Schoolhouse Road

Right on Spooks Hill Road

 

These road closures will remain in effect until May, 2017, when the work is expected to be completed.



Baltimore City owns 7,380 acres of Prettyboy Watershed land.  Prettyboy Reservoir stores up to 20 billion gallons of water for the metropolitan area. It is one of three Baltimore City-owned reservoirs, the others being Loch Raven and Liberty.

Register Now for the Mayor's Fall Cleanup, October 26

Mayor Brandon M. Scott, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), and the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs have announced the upcoming Mayor's Annual Fall Clean-up and Day of Service. Residents, volunteer groups, and community associations are encouraged to register now to participate in the city-wide effort to beautify neighborhoods. The event will run on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Mattress and Box Spring Recycling Now Available at Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center



Looking to get rid of an old mattress? Baltimore City residents can now drop off mattresses and box springs for recycling at the Baltimore City Department of Public Works’ (DPW) Quarantine Road Landfill Residential Drop-Off Center. In the coming months, DPW will expand this mattress recycling service to other Residential Drop-Off Centers across the city.
