Stakeholders Invited to Third Public Meeting to Develop DPW Solid Waste Management Plan

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold the third of five public meetings to offer residents and other stakeholders the opportunity to comment on updates to the city’s 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan. This online meeting will be held Monday, March 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Federal, City Fire Officials Investigate Explosion at the Synagro Facility at Back River Wastewater Treatment Facility

Federal and City officials are investigating the cause of an explosion that occurred Wednesday morning at Synagro Technologies Facility at the Back River Wastewater Treatment Facility. The incident happened just before 12:00 p.m. as contractors from Synagro Technologies Inc. were working. The explosion and fire caused extensive fire damage to Synagro’s building on the property at the treatment facility.

Stakeholders Invited to Provide Comment on the 90% Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP)

The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) has released the 90% draft of the 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan, a future focused strategy for managing the City’s waste streams. DPW is asking residents and stakeholders to help guide the plan’s development by providing written comments by mail, on the Department’s website or at public meetings.

DPW Extends Public Comment Period for Modified Sanitary Sewer Consent Decree Phase II Plan Until April 18, 2023 

Today, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) announced the extension of the public comment period for the Modified Consent Decree Phase II Plan Report. DPW is now accepting public comments pertaining to this document through April 18, 2023. The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) granted DPW approval to extend the public comment period for the MCD Phase II Plan Report.
